With its clear turquoise waters, soft golden sand, and year-round sunshine, it’s no wonder that Cyprus is such a popular vacation destination. Visitors can choose from many beautiful beaches to soak in the sun and relax, from hidden, sheltered coves to lively beach bars. However, with so many options, it can be hard to know where to start. To help you plan your trip, here are some of the top beaches in Cyprus:
Konnos Beach
Konnos Beach is known for its turquoise waters and golden sand on the island of Cyprus, four kilometres east of Ayia Napa and two kilometres north of Cape Greco. Awarded with a Blue Flag for its cleanliness and safety, Konnos Beach is perfect for families with young children. Listen to some chilled-out music at the beach bars and taste fresh seafood at the local restaurants.
The beautiful bay of Konnos is easily accessible by car. Visitors without a car can reach the beach by bus from Paralimni, with stops in Protaras and Ayia Napa.
Parking: There is a free parking area at Konnos Bay, but it can get crowded during summer.
Nissi Beach
Known for its lively atmosphere, crystal-clear waters and wide range of water sports, Nissi Beach is a firm favourite for families and friends. Safe for swimming and with plenty of sun loungers and parasols.
Nissi Bay Beach features many open-air bars, perfect for enjoying a drink with friends and lounge music all day long. At night they organise exciting parties with famous DJs.
To get to Nissi Beach, visitors can take the bus from Larnaca, Ayia Napa, Paralimni, or Protaras. After drop-off, it’s a couple of minutes’ walk to the beach.
Parking: Paid parking is available at Nissi Beach for up to one day.
Makronissos Beach
Quieter than Nissi Beach, Makronissos Beach is one of the finest beaches on the island. It’s 5 kilometres from the centre of Ayia Napa, close to Nissi Beach. Fun children’s activities can be found here, as well as a few small tourist shops and fish taverns.
You can go to Makronissos Beach by bus from Ayia Napa, Paralimni, or Protaras.
Parking: Visitors travelling via car can find parking near the beach.
Coral Bay Beach
Coral Bay Beach is a stunning stretch of golden sand located just 9 kilometres north of Paphos. Organised facilities make it perfect for families with small children, and there are plenty of sun loungers and parasols available.
You can rent a car or take one of the public buses to get you to Coral Bay. The drive gets easier with a GPS for those who drive, but if that isn’t your thing, then taxis are also available.
Parking: Several parking areas are available near Coral Bay Beach.
Fig Tree Bay
A beautiful sandy beach with crystal-clear water, Fig Tree Bay is one of the most popular beaches in Protaras, Cyprus. The shallow waters make it perfect for families with young children. Lifeguards watch over swimmers during the summer months. An all-day bar and a few restaurants are available, so you can spend the whole day here without getting bored.
The easiest way to get to Fig Tree Bay is by car or bus. The beach is located in the Protaras area, about an hour’s drive from Larnaca Airport.
Parking: The municipal car park is only a short walk away from the beach.
Lara Beach
Lara Beach in the Akamas Peninsula is a place where you can go to experience nature at its most raw and untamed. The peninsula houses some of the world’s few remaining loggerhead turtle hatcheries, ideal for families with small children seeking to learn more about these fantastic creatures.
A small restaurant by the beach offers a great spot for drinks and snacks with stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea.
You’ll need a 4×4 vehicle and enough time to reach this secluded landscape. The fact that it’s a hard-to-reach area contributes to the beach’s wild charm.
Parking: There is no official parking at Lara Beach, but visitors can find a spot to leave their cars nearby.
Blue Lagoon Bay
The Blue Lagoon Bay is a magical, serene beach that offers an unmatched landscape. It is a cove with calm water for swimming, pocket-sized beaches, and a snorkelling reef. You will find it west of Paphos district, next to Akamas. Not very deep, the water is perfect for families looking to enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
There are two ways to access Blue Lagoon. A 4×4 car can get there, but the road is unpaved and can be challenging. The other option is to go on a boat trip from Lachi for a more relaxing journey.
Parking: There is a small parking place above the Blue Lagoon for those who come by car.
Akti Olympion Blue Flag
Akti Olympion B beach – Blue Flag is located southeast of Old Town Limassol. The area has been loved for years by residents and visitors alike who come to enjoy its sports facilities and socialise with friends or family over lunch. There are many cafeterias by the beach where visitors can enjoy their favourite drinks, food and, of course, the sea.
Akti Olympion is conveniently located within walking distance of Limassol’s Old Town.
Parking: A lot of parking space is available nearby.
Pantachou Beach
Pantachou Beach is the longest bay found east of Ayia Napa, stretching all the way to the Glyki Nero Beach. The water is warm, and many sunbeds, umbrellas and snack kiosks are available for people seeking a place to relax and soak in the sun from morning until evening.
It is an excellent choice for groups of friends and families with children as it has a sandy beach and crystal clear waters. You may find some rocks at the bottom of the sea, but the light blue waters make it easy to see where the rocky and sandy parts are.
Access is easy by bicycle, foot or car, and there are many car-parking facilities nearby.
Kalamies Beach
It is a beautiful beach with clear turquoise waters and golden sand, perfect for families with children and groups of friends.
There are many umbrellas, chairs and sun-beds available to rent at Kalamies Beach and spend the whole day admiring the endless Mediterranean blue. The idyllic whitewashed chapel of Agios Nikolaos makes the landscape even more stunning and romantic.

The beach is just 10 minutes away from Protaras by car and about an hour away on foot.
